How to register with a GP and use the NHS in London

A local GP practice is the normal first point of contact for non-emergency healthcare in England.

01

Find a local practice

Search by postcode, compare services and check whether the practice accepts patients from your area.

02

Complete registration

Practices may ask for an NHS number, ID or address details, but lack of these should not automatically prevent registration.

03

Know where to go

Use 999 for life-threatening emergencies, NHS 111 for urgent advice and a GP for routine care.
